Tehran Declares It Could Rejoin American Atomic Discussions if Handled with 'Respect' and 'Honor'
Iran is prepared to restart atomic talks with the United States on condition that it is handled with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has announced.
Abbas Araghchi declared solely negotiations produced results, and shared recent overtures had originated from intermediaries to reopen talks with the American leadership. He asserted Iran had zero unreported enrichment locations, and Tehran had not yet reached a point to allow the UN nuclear inspectorate to visit struck enrichment centers for safety concerns.
Walking a Difficult Course
The foreign minister is walking a challenging route since Iran aims to avoid be perceived to be operating from a situation of disadvantage, and he consistently maintained that Iran had arisen stronger in military terms and emotionally from the coordinated strike on its atomic facilities in June.
He was talking at a security conference in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an inalienable right to enrich uranium domestically that it will always maintain" – the key factor of the deadlock in the previous talks.
Prior Talks Suddenly Terminated
The prior phases of discussions between the United States and Iran were ended suddenly and acrimonious conclusion on 12 June when Israel, with Washington's assistance, targeted Iran's enrichment centers in a two-week conflict that culminated with the US president asserting the sites had been obliterated. Following this, Western states exercised their authority to reimpose international penalties, but Iran insists they have not had a major impact.
Ideal Resolution Suggested
Iranian officials claimed they felt they had achieved a "magic solution" to the nuclear fuel concern in earlier negotiations, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with US participation could refine atomic fuel. Both sides would have been able to assert triumph since local refinement would have persisted and the US could be certain that Iran's nuclear programme was solely for peaceful purposes.
It had not been decided in the discussions that US nuclear scientists could operate inside Iran, but that was a logical implication of the partnership suggestion. Representatives asserted repeatedly they had secured an understanding with Washington's diplomat Steve Witkoff only for the agreement to disintegrate due to "detractors in America".
Present Position
Iran's diplomats declared the consortium offer was now withdrawn, but it seems very probable the offer could be reintroduced in various formats if negotiations resume.
The American leader in recent days stated he had been receiving messages that Iran desired to restart talks, but confidentially Iran's diplomats claim they are not yet getting coherent offers from America either directly or from significant local go-betweens, such as the Qatari government, the Egyptian leadership, the Omani authorities and Saudi Arabia. The Tehran's diplomatic corps has been charged of inactivity in the aftermath of the US president's straightforward manner, but Tehran states negotiations is not part of a spectacle.
Diplomatic Position
In his speech to the forum, aimed to paint the US as a hegemonic power that misuses the concept of international law, the foreign minister said the 12-day war demonstrated the dispute could not be ended by combat operations. He stated the attacks commenced with a American requirement for an complete Tehran capitulation and ended with an unconditional call for a truce.
Iran is convinced the initial Israeli attacks were carried out with full US knowledge and cooperation, making confidence hard to reestablish.
Negotiations Continues the Primary Resolution
The foreign minister declared: "It was not Iran that had deserted negotiations; it was America and the European states that had consistently tried to enforce their will during the discussions. Negotiations can still be active and continues the primary resolution to settle disagreements, but its criteria, regulations and fundamentals must be adhered to."
"If they speak to the citizens of Tehran with the tone of respect and respect, they will obtain a reply in the equivalent language."
Repair and Recovery
In what is described by Iranian officials as the conflict of recovery and reconstruction, the foreign minister said he was confident Iran's military capacities "have significantly improved than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. All our capabilities have been reestablished. We learned many lessons from this war; we have discovered our internal vulnerabilities and the vulnerabilities of the opponent."
He stated: "We managed to survive this engagement. Our enrichment knowledge, which they planned to destroy, remains in place. The sites and gear, if eliminated, will be reconstructed; what is essential is the resolve of the Iranian people and then the national cohesion that they aimed at, but did not succeed to shatter. The Iranian people have become more powerful, more cohesive, and more backing of the government and the nation in the wake of this assault."
