Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
